Structure Group ownership, managers, and entire team believe that for communities to be amazing everyone needs be a member and supporter of their hometown. Just like a sports team won’t succeed without fans, a community without active support is nothing for a bunch of people trying to make the best of it.
Short-Term Communities: Our geographical reach means we can be very short-term members of a community or very long-term permanent residents. In our short-term communities, we have policies about good governance and social responsibility. Idling, speeding, lending a hand. This is especially important in some of the remote areas in which we work.
Long-Term Communities: In our long-term permanent communities of Sherwood Park, Elkford, BC and Fort McMurray we try to support causes we care about where we see the best value/impact for our time or donations. We tend to avoid the larger organizations that see significant corporate support in the larger community.
Once again able to help the lovely folks across the street at the Strathcona Food Bank with a cash donation. $5126 for food and household needs for those in the community that need a little extra help. The bad news is that the food bank is constantly busy, and getting busier. The good news is they have found a new facility and will be building a great grocery store style pick up for their customers. We look forward to helping them regardless they are leaving us as neighbours in 2026.
In 2023, we were fortunate to be able to provide the Strathcona Food Bank with our largest donation to date this week. $5365.00 which will be used to help those struggling with food security or just having a rough patch of luck. Strathcona food bank is our neighbour and the first organization we chose to support and will do so forever.
Our first larger gift in kind for the Strathcona Food Bank. While we did also donate a little cash, hitting Costco and filling 2 trucks was somehow a little more satisfying. Total donation was about 4 carts, 2 trucks & roughly 720lbs of food.
Structure Group along with our shop dog Loki are happy to send another donation of cash this month to go along with a delivery earlier this year of toys, treat, blankets and other wish list items. If you need a new family member there are always orphans with wagging tails waiting at Edmonton Humane Society (linked)
With our support, our friend Astro, a 2 month old puppy at the Fort McMurray SPCA, has made a full recovery from a severe case of lice!
Donations primarily come from our training services which we converted to an unofficial not for profit business line near the end of 2022. We quietly have a little goal to get to $100,000/year in donations. When we hit that milestone, we know we are succeeding in business, and we will be happy to share that success.
Our donations and time go toward supporting a variety of organizations that align with our values:
They are our neighbours and are unfortunately always busy.
