First industrial/refinery gig I ever took on. Sold it and planned it under the twinline name back in 2013. Inspection and repair to a vertical separator.

All I remember is that it was 35deg and beautiful and the camp had mint chocolate chip ice cream I would pack in paper cups and ice and eat on top of the vessel with the client.

Throw back to warmer days.

Pre hire/deployment weld testing. While we can’t always get them done we try to ensure we see everyone weld on rope before deployment. This is especially critical for remote jobs or the trickier confined space or alloy work when the client can’t afford mistakes.

It doesn’t have to be high, or fancy. Simple task, but this test we get to see blueprint reading, layout, levels, all position SMAW, grinding, cut offs and tool and rope mgmt. All pretty relevant stuff since there is no formal certification for on rope welding.

Curious how many welders out there have done weld tests on rope or if it’s not that common? Pretty sure the boys at @rigropeaccess do them but not sure the industry at large.

She is a wicked climber and person but she tries to kill herself jumping freestyle on her dirt bike. That didn’t work so she tried out cancer and when that didn’t work she tried renal failure.

Apparently the devil doesn’t want her yet, and she lives in Saskatchewan so heaven might be out of reach. Haha Saskatchewan. Nice lifted truck charity. Hope you have a super fun weekend watching wind and grass and whatever you do.

Besides the year we started this was our biggest calander year for growth.
Added some amazing staff. Tripled our fleet. Went from zero internal welding fleet to 5. From basic SMAW carbon carbon welding to stainless, CCO, TIG, FCAW, weird uncommon alloys.

Added pie-fitting and millwright services. Nearly doubled our rental fleet. Also managed to push our non rope division to about 30% of our projects simply by providing quality. Lastly, we came up shy on our donation goal of $24,000 but did manage to give the @strathcona_food_bank and @edmontonhumane just under $20,000 which I pushed over $20,000 about 12 minutes ago with an online donation.

I may have started this adventure but I’d be a liar and need a punch in the face if I didn’t thank Taylor, Chris & Travis for simply kicking the shit out of customer service, execution, safety, spending money, late nights, and dependability.

Here’s to a solid 2024.

@ebeltran1047 has been with us a few years. He’s in the hospital currently and He is simply fucking awesome! He was our first dude to win employee of the year (which was a off the cuff reward and thank you for always doing horrible jobs in shitty places while making us laugh).

He is a great welder and even if he welded popcorn and couldn’t lay a bead to save his life we’d probably find a job for him, which speaks to his character. Nobody complains about Efrain. All these pics are him and you can see he and usually the people around him are laughing.

Efrain, you get better soon man. I will have all the clients hold off on the worst jobs imaginable until you are ready to get back on rope.

Is this trailer a disaster? Definitely. Our smallest site trailer, less then a 7 months old. Originally to support a team of 4 doing basics stuff. On this day we had just finished a battle with Mother Nature with a crew of 7.

The crew was the sr mgmt, owners, and our longest term welders and with shin deep mud, freezing rain, 1000’s of lead, extension cord, rope ect we simply dumped and ran for the hotel.

It was frustrating knowing that it was a mess but after a 15hr day who cares, it’s tomorrows problem. Plus it was a very good reason to outfit a new site trailer.

1x 3rd recert and 2x 6th recert so they are making things look pretty easy. That is other then the 1 instance of a second point being connected by blue tooth…. Guess that’s why we practice.

Little aid climb to pick off to lower and followed up with a retrieval anchor. I like these guys, weeks like this training is enjoyable.

The entire FT and our long term part timers travels to Edmonton this week for some professional development. Hell even @cbach470 came who’s joined in 2019(?) but has abandoned us showed up and kicked some ass.

Doc reviews, updating policies, climbing, rigging and rescues. Little bit of planning, little bit of charity donations and a little bit of hockey. Lots of shit talking and laughs.

With everyone working remote locations it’s tough to get everyone together and some of the team hadn’t even met others yet.

Thanks to our OGs @lucashallgram and Mr. Flynn for coming in and running over rescues and tripods. Our BC mining lead Chris for adding wisdom and a round of shots. Our welding lead @thatguypiwowar for ensuring Chris knows his team ( Flames) sucked against the oilers. Travis for having the gear and training center ready. Tiffany for dealing with everyone’s travel and shenanigans. Piping lead Nathan was his first week on the team. @marykeciara for smart insights and smart comments to keep Chris ego in check. @8urnsie for lying to his GF and drinking 2 beers at the hockey game….oops I mean 1. Logistics dude Tedros for having our backs when we do everything we can to mess up his day. And of course @ebeltran1047 for our longest term welder and resident moral booster and worlds okayeest welderer. And resident shop dog Loki for not biting anyone.

It’s always better to find these tagged out or at least flagged and in the bin then found during post job inspections.

Some damage is pretty obvious, some like the stitching it’s easily missed unless you have have many, many harnesses pass through your hands. Would you have caught the stitching issue??

One of our newer guys missed the harness arching because it looked clean and not frayed and we passed it around. A few guys would have caught it and a few admitted that they may have/might have/probably would have missed it. Coaching and mentoring is key, always use everything to teach lessons. You can’t learn too much about a job that is waiting for you or your workmate to miss something critical.

We have gotten so many gear storage questions. (Kidding we have gotten maybe 6.5) but they were all on harnesses.

We have roughly 250 harnesses in our fleet and 100-125 rotating through the shop at any time.

This is our current design which you can borrow, modify or share yours because they can always be better.

7’ height. 6’ long. 44” wide.
Holds 200+ harnesses but we keep it to 4 per dowel for 144 harnesses.

1.5” x 1/8” square tubing with 5/8” bar stock.
